Eligibility Criteria

 In order to apply for an HDR program, students must meet the required academic entry requirements, as well as satisfy visa, residency and English proficiency requirements.

The scholarship is open to students who are studying a Ph.D. Doctorate by Research and hold a valid Letter of offer for enrolment at Bond University.
Previous applicants for Scholarships, who have been unsuccessful, are not eligible to re-apply.

The award is available for both Australian and international students.
Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have their previous degree.

How to Apply

Step 1 – Expression of Interest Your first step is to lodge an HDR Expression of Interest.  Once your Expression of Interest has been accepted, you will be required to make an application for admission to an HDR Doctoral program through the relevant Faculty.
Step 2 – Find a Supervisor To start this process, click on the Find a Supervisor button.
Step 3 – Admission to Bond University To start this process, click on the Apply for admission button.
Step 4 – Apply for a Scholarship Once your application for admission has been approved, and you have received your Letter of Offer, you may then apply for a scholarship through the Apply for Scholarship button.

Korean Studies Fellowships, Study in South Korea

Here is a great scholarship opportunity for International students provided by the   Academy of Korean Studies. The Scholarship is called  AKS Fellowship Program for Korean Studies. These scholarships are provided to international students s and doctoral candidates to carry out their research work in South Korea.

Fellowships are available to conduct research at Graduate School of  Korean Studies (GSKS).
Fellowships are awarded for research related to Korea/Korean studies.

Scholarship Eligibility

Foreign scholars (including those who have Korean nationality with permanent residence status in foreign countries) in the humanities and social sciences, who are currently engaged in Korea-related teaching and research activities, are eligible to apply.


  • Senior Researcher Fellowship: Associate professor level or above/Ph. D. holder with 7 or more years of research experience
  • Junior Researcher Fellowship: Assistant professor level or below/ Ph. D. holder with less than 7 years of research experience . 
  • Pre-doctoral Fellowship: Doctoral candidates who have completed all academic requirements except for their dissertation (i.e., ABD) from institutions outside Korea. (? Those who completed their Ph.D. courses at Korean schools or institutions are ineligible for pre-doctoral fellowship)

Those who have received AKS fellowship within the last 3 years (based on application submission date) are ineligible for this program.

Scholarship Benefits


  • Airfare: Economy-class round trip airfare (Only offered to overseas awardees). The valid date of the flight tickets cannot exceed the research period. The airfare will be reimbursed based on the actual ticket price but the reimbursement should not exceed the amount of Government Transportation Request(GTR) cost according to the 2017 budgetary guidelines of international airfare.
  • Monthly Stipend

(a) Senior Research Fellowship: 2,500,000won
(b) Junior Research Fellowship: 2,000,000won
(c) Pre-doctoral Fellowship: 1,500,000won.

  •  Please note that we do not offer monthly stipend for research period less than 15 days and offer full monthly stipend for research period 15 or more days
  • Access to the facilities of AKS including the library
